HBM2 Purpose-built for HPC and big data

Xilinx has introduced the most powerful accelerator card ever purpose-built for HPC and big data workloads. It will launch with the Alveo U55C to target even bigger big data workloads from its predecessor. The new card uses new HBM2 memory, doubles the capacity, and uses a new form factor.

Xilinx solution to reduce cloud latency by 80 percent

The datacenter is exploding, and the number of global data center traffic will triple between 2016 and 2021. Datacenter to outside traffic doubled from two Exabytes in 2016 to four Exabytes in 2019, and by 2021 it is expected to grow to six Exabytes. Interestingly enough traffic within data centers is exploding, as it grew from five Exabytes in 2016 to 10 Exabytes in 2019, and by 2021 the expectations are that it will grow to 15 Exabytes.

Datacenter Accelerator against theft

Xilinx and SK Telecom announced that SK Telecom had adopted Xilinx Alveo Datacenter Accelerator cards. The cards have an important job to power a real-time AI-based physical intrusion and theft detection service.

Data center beat Nvidia Volta on latency and inference  

The Xilinx CEO has just introduced a new product category called the Alveo PCIe based hardware accelerator that will challenge machine learning data center compute accelerators. It has dramatically better latency compared to Nvidia or AMD's GPU based solution, it's claimed.
